On 23 January 2012 at 10:00 local Japan time, MHI Hull 2264 was named MV Tysla at a ceremony in Nagasaki, Japan.Lady sponsor was Pernille Wilhelmsen, wife of Thomas Wilhelmsen, group CEO of Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA.

MV Tysla is the sister vessel of MV Tønsberg which was delivered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Nagasaki shipyard in March 2011, and the third of four sister vessels of the Mark V ro-ro class. The other two vessels have been ordered by Wallenius Lines.

The vessel will be deployed in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' fleet and Captain Jacobsen and her crew will take her out of the shipyard upon delivery of the vessel on
Thursday 26 January and set course for her
first cargo loading in Ulsan.

Designed for sustainability
This new generation of RO/RO vessels is designed for efficient transportation and handling of High & Heavy rolling cargo, Non Containerised Cargo (NCC), Breakbulk, Special Project Cargo and cars.

The vessel will use 15 to 20% less fuel per transported unit than its predecessors, thanks to a optimised hull form and a number of energy saving features such as the streamlined rudder design and duck tail. In the engine room an advanced turbo generator produces electricity from the waste, exhaust heat. In total, these initiatives help to cut emissions significantly.
