About one in five companies that went public in the U.S. in 2013 involved SaaS, or software as a service, according to venture capital firm Inventus Capital Partners. Some of last year's biggest SaaS IPOs include online coupon company RetailMeNot, biotech cloud software company Veeva and e-commerce company Zulily, which sells clothing and household items for mothers and children.
