Universal Music says it's going to stop licensing its content to the social network.

All its songs will be removed once the current deal expires on Wednesday.

Universal has been pressing TikTok for better artist and songwriter compensation.

The music group is home to performers including Taylor Swift.

It says TikTok has been trying to build a music business, without paying fair value for the content.

The two had been in talks over a new deal.

But Universal says TikTok had proposed paying artists at a "fraction of the rate" agreed with other platforms.

The social network called that a "false" narrative, and said Universal wasn't acting in the best interest of its performers.

Back in 2021, the pair had agreed a deal allowing TikTok users to feature clips from Universal's music catalog.
