TotalEnergies has announced the start of production from the second development phase of the Mero field, located on the Libra block more than 180 kilometers offshore Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the pre-salt Santos Basin.
Approved in June 2019, this second phase, known as 'Mero 2', includes a floating production, storage and offloading unit, the Sepetiba FPSO, with a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day (b/d).
With Mero 2, the Mero field will reach a production capacity of 410,000 b/d. Two further development phases of 180,000 b/d each are underway, with start-up scheduled by 2025.
At full capacity, TotalEnergies' share of Mero's production should exceed 100,000 b/d. The field is operated by Petrobras (38.6%) in partnership with TotalEnergies (19.3%), Shell Brasil (19.3%), CNPC (9.65%), CNOOC (9.65%) and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A (3.5%).

- hydrocarbon operating and production (2.8%): 2.5 million barrels of oil equivalent produced per day in 2023;
- other (0.1%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: France (23.4%), Europe (41.2%), North America (9.4%), Africa (9.2%) and other (16.8%).
