The Harvey Weinstein case. The state inquiry into President Trump's finances. The cancellation of in-person criminal proceedings during the pandemic.

The Manhattan courts beat is a crucial one for Metro, covering some of the city's most important stories. Today, we're pleased to announce that Jonah Bromwich, a talented and versatile reporter who has been doing terrific work on Styles, is moving to Metro to take on the beat.

On Styles, Jonah has covered everything from the destruction of Confederate statues to the growth of venture capital investment in psychedelics to the proliferation of Oreo flavors.

'Jonah has been so instrumental on Styles in pushing our ambitions across news and enterprise features,' said Choire Sicha, Styles editor. 'He found novel ways to use reporting to explain complicated ideas. He was a lovely and generous collaborator with other reporters.'

He joined The Times in 2012 as a temporary news assistant on Sports, helping out during the London Olympics. He later became one of the founding editors on the NYT Now app before moving to the Express Team in 2015.

Jonah made a guest appearance on Metro early in the pandemic, when he was hugely helpful in covering the torrent of breaking news.

Jonah starts his new beat today. Please welcome him to Metro!
