Telefonica announced on Thursday that it had carried out a bond issue for a total of 1.75 billion euros as part of its EMTN program of medium-term issues.

The issue was carried out in two tranches: one billion euros maturing in 2032 were placed with an annual coupon of 3.698%, and 750 million euros maturing in 2036 with a coupon of 4.055%.

The Spanish telecoms group says it intends to use the proceeds to transform and modernize its fixed and mobile networks, in line with its sustainable financing framework established last year.

The operator explains that it intends in particular to deploy new software to improve the energy efficiency of its infrastructures.
