Tata Motors plans to launch two more sport utility vehicles over the next three years. These vehicles will include the Nexon SUV to occupy the budget end of the SUV spectrum, while a premium offering will share underpinnings with the Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Nexon is likely to be priced below INR 700,000 (USD 10,261) and offered with a choice of either a 1.2-litre gasoline (petrol) or 1.5-litre diesel engine. On the other hand, the premium offering is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine and will be positioned above Tata's Safari Storme. Design work on the vehicle has started at design studios in the UK, Italy, and India, with input regarding aesthetics coming from the Land Rover team.
