Tata Motors has launched a new family of locally developed gasoline (petrol) engines named Revotron. The company also launched the first engine of the family - a turbocharged 1.2-litre intercooled multi-point fuel injected (MPFi) engine. In developing the engines, the automaker worked closely with global parts suppliers including AVL, Bosch, Honeywell, Mahle, and INA and incorporated feedback received from various car owners across the globe.

The 1.2L engine offers maximum power of 85 PS (83.8 bhp) at 5,000 rpm, with a maximum pulling power of 140 Nm at 1,750-3,500 rpm. The company's passenger vehicle deliveries fell 40.4% to 222,000 units in 2013 as buyers stayed clear of its dated portfolio and unexciting designs.
