Brand new series of film show Moviejuice set to hit STV screens this January

5 January 2012

A brand new series of the film review show Moviejuice is set to return to STV screens tomorrow night, Friday 6 January 2012 at 8pm. The show will run for 12 weeks and will see STV's movie man Grant Lauchlan, interview some of the biggest names in cinema.

Grant will be joined by some of Scotland's top film critics, to give viewers an indispensable guide on what to watch - and what not to watch. In the studio this week are Siobhan Synnot, Journalist and Film Critic for Scotland on Sunday and Hannah McGill, Writer and former Artistic Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. We will also hear about what the public are watching through a network of STV Local review panels.

The new series will bring you more than ever before, kicking off with reviews of the much anticipated The Iron Lady, starring double Oscar winner Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia, The Devil Wears Prada). The first week of the show also reviews a crowd pleasing tribute to the magic of silent cinema, The Artist, which has already created a huge amount of Oscar buzz; and we hear from Sandra Bullock in a sneak preview of her latest film which isn't out until next month. Throughout the run there will also be some fantastic film prizes to be won in the Moviejuice competition - this week one lucky winner will win free cinema tickets for a year!

For armchair film fans who don't want to venture out to the cinema, Grant will provide a weekly rundown of the very best DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Grant Lauchlan, Entertainment Reporter at STV said: "Scotland has had a long love affair with the movies. We have more cinema goers per head of population than anywhere in Europe and we deserve our own movie show. I'm really excited about the new show and I'm going to be interviewing some of the biggest stars on the planet with a few movie surprises along the way. With the awards season in full swing there couldn't be a better time to kick off Moviejuice."

Siobhan Synnot, said: "Scots are the UK's keenest movie fans. It's about time they had a TV show tailored for them which can highlight the best of Scottish film talent too."

Elizabeth Partyka, Deputy Director of Channels at STV, said: "I'm delighted to bring the new series of Moviejuice to STV viewers. In a nation that loves cinema, what better way to celebrate, than our very own film review show!"
