Snowflake announced it has appointed Vijayant Rai as its new managing director in India. Rai takes over from Vimal Venkatram, who has moved to a regional role for Snowflake. He will be responsible for driving business growth and go-to-market strategy for Snowflake in India, it added.

Before joining Snowflake, Rai served as the executive director for Microsoft India and was the country leader for its banking and financial services segment. Prior to this, he held leadership roles in Salesforce, SAP, Oracle and IBM, among others. The new MD has over 27 years of experience.

At Snowflake, Rai will spearhead business expansion across India, oversee strategy, sales and execution, and drive the adoption of Snowflake's data cloud across various industries, among other priorities.
