Skanska has signed a contract with the New York City Department of Transportation, or NYCDOT, to restore electrical and mechanical systems of 12 movable bridges damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The contract is worth about $70 million, about SEK 480 million. Work on the bridges includes the rehabilitation of the mechanical and electrical systems, the replacement of submarine cables, the installation of temporary drives to operate the spans while the mechanical and electrical systems are being repaired, and performing bridge operations and maintenance during construction.

Construction has begun and is expected to be completed in December 2017.
