Siemens Mobility announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tyczka Hydrogen in April 2024 with the aim of accelerating the transition to hydrogen-powered rail mobility.

This collaboration covers the entire hydrogen supply chain, including production, storage, distribution, refueling and maintenance of fuel cell trains.

Smart Train Lease, a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility, will also offer hydrogen trains for hire.

The heads of the three companies emphasize that this cooperation aims to simplify and promote the adoption of hydrogen as a sustainable alternative for rail transport, particularly for routes that are difficult to electrify.

This partnership is seen as a means of facilitating the decarbonization of the rail sector and improving the flexibility of operations without the heavy investment required for electrification.
