Nordson MEDICAL announces the launch of its patented breakaway luer caps

Loveland, CO, USA - Nordson MEDICAL, A Nordson Company (Nasdaq: NDSN), announced that it has launched patented breakaway luer caps. The closures were developed to aid in the detection of seal integrity when used with connectors containing dangerous or harmful liquids in a variety of settings. The breakaway outer shroud gives a clear visual indication if the luer fitting has been removed or compromised.

Breakaway luer caps have valuable features that yield a significant advancement for the pharmaceutical industry. Traditional packaging for products such as these are sealed in thermoform trays in quantities of ten. These traditional packaging methods add labor and introduce excess foreign materials into tightly controlled clean room environments. Nordson MEDICAL's breakaway luer caps solve this problem by streamlining the automated filling process with bulk packaging solutions and proper product design. During production, the clear polycarbonate material allows for automated quality inspection. Additionally, the clean break-away design eliminates the possibility of foreign debris coming loose during detachment.
Breakaway luer caps are manufactured in an ISO Class-8 clean room at Nordson MEDICAL's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Loveland, Colorado. The caps are molded using USP Class VI, animal-derivative-free materials which are REACH and ROHS compliant. Nordson MEDICAL is ISO 13485 Certified and FDA Registered.
