Nissan Motor Company announced that Ashwani Gupta, the company's representative executive officer and chief operation officer (COO), is leaving the company by the end of June 2023. Gupta is leaving the company to 'pursue other opportunities'. He was named COO of Nissan in December 2019 in order to head the firm's recovery subsequent to the ousting and subsequent arrest of former CEO Carlos Ghosn.

The company announced that Gupta is to formally step down from the board of directors at the end of the annual general meeting of shareholders on June 27, when a new executive line up is to be announced.
