Montmeló, Barcelona, Spain, Jun 23 (EFE).- Three times world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) from the Netherlands reinforced his lead in the Formula One drivers championship by winning the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday at the Montmeló circuit in Barcelona.

Verstappen, 26, scored his seventh win of the year - 61st overall in F1 - by leaving behind Britain's Lando Norris (McLaren) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who came second and third, respectively.

The British George Russell (Mercedes) was fourth, Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) was fifth and Spain's Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) came sixth.

The next race, the Austria Grand Prix, will be held next weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. EFE

In the overall drivers standings so far, Verstappen leads with 219 points, followed by Norris (150 points), Leclerc (148), Sainz (116) and Sergio Perez (111) rounding up the top five. EFE
