According to Spanish newspaper El Economista, Telefónica, S.A. (BME:TEF) is trying to sell its Chilean subsidiary as quickly as possible as part of its wider Latin American divestment plan. It is reported that Claro Telecom Participações S.A. and Liberty Latin America Ltd. (NasdaqGS:LILA) (owner of VTR) are among the possible buyers although Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (SNSE:ENTEL), WoM and Boreal Net may also be interested. It is believed that a deal with Claro or Entel would have trouble in securing approval from the authorities due to their significant market positions.
