Duke Energy's board has raised the energy holding company's quarterly dividend by nearly 2%, to $1.045 from $1.025.

The new payout, equal to $4.18 a year, represents an annual yield of about 4% based on Monday's trading price of $104.52, up from 3.92%.

The Charlotte, N.C., company said the increased dividend is payable Sept. 16 to shareholders of record Aug. 16.
