Comcast is throwing a free party for the whole community to get in the spirit of the Winter Games, on Friday, Feb. 7. People can meet Olympic speed skating gold medalists, Derek Parra and Chad Hedrick, enter for giveaways, and do crafts with their kids, all while watching the Opening Ceremony on huge screens in the Utah Valley Convention Center, 220 West Center Street in Provo, from 7 to 10 p.m., courtesy of XFINITY TV from Comcast.

Olympic gold medal speed skaters Parra and Hedrick will be on hand all evening to greet fans, share their Olympic experiences from the stage, and talk to kids about working hard and going after their dreams. People can keep an eye on the opening ceremony parade and the fun cultural production from Sochi, while they get free autographed photos with Parra and Hedrick, and take photos of their own.

At a craft area, family members can make their own gold medals and then pose with them in front of a backdrop with equipment from their favorite winter sports, just like real athletes. Children can also express their winter sports ambitions by coloring and drawing themselves participating in the Games, and getting their faces painted with beautiful winter designs. Adults can join in the fun by entering for prize drawings and grabbing free drinks and snacks while their kids play.

Utahns love their winter sports, and are great fans of the Winter Games. Comcast's free community party is meant to recreate the atmosphere that Utahns enjoyed in 2002, and provide some wonderful new memories for families in 2014. Comcast's free party is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, at the Utah Valley Convention Center, 220 W. Center Street in Provo.
