Comcast Corporation announced the establishment of a new Legal Regulatory Group. The new Legal Regulatory Group will provide corporate-wide legal advice taking into account considerations of both the Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal businesses, and will continue to ensure compliance with the Comcast-NBCUniversal deal conditions. The Group will oversee all legal regulatory advocacies, including filings in federal and state regulatory proceedings and related litigation and appeals, for both Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal. The Group will also work closely with the M&A and securities law attorneys in the Corporate Law Department to help with the legal regulatory aspects of transactions and SEC filings, and will also be responsible for the retention and oversight of outside counsel for regulatory matters at the FCC, the FTC and other federal, state and local agencies, and related administrative and court proceedings. The new group will be headed by Lynn R. Charytan, Vice President of Legal Regulatory Affairs. Ms. Charytan joined Comcast in November 2010 from WilmerHale where she was a partner and chair of the Communications, Privacy and Internet Law Practice Group. During more than 17 years with that firm, she advised clients on telecommunications, privacy, and Internet-law matters in all sectors of the communications industry -- from equipment manufacturers to wireless companies to video providers. Ms. Charytan is based in Washington, D.C. and will report substantively to Kyle McSlarrow, President, Comcast/NBCUniversal, Washington, D.C. She will also be part of the Comcast Corporate Legal Department, reporting functionally to Arthur R. Block, Comcast's General Counsel.
