Two people familiar with the matter said that China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. is in talks to acquire $8 billion of upstream oil and gas assets from China Petrochemical Corporation as part of its plan to increase its footprint in global exploration and production. The people added that China Petroleum is looking to acquire upstream assets in countries such as United Kingdom, Russia, Colombia and Kazakhstan.
