Schwab Charitable and Charles Schwab Foundation today announce that Schwab President Rick Wurster has been elected to chair the organizations' respective boards of directors and serve as President of Charles Schwab Foundation, effective July 1.

Schwab Charitable is an independent 501(3) non-profit organization, and one of the largest national providers of donor-advised funds and other philanthropic resources with the mission to increase charitable giving in the United States. Charles Schwab Foundation is an independent nonprofit public benefit corporation, funded by The Charles Schwab Corporation, with a mission to empower people through financial education and foster strong communities so that everyone has an opportunity to achieve financial well-being.

Wurster steps into these leadership roles to succeed Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, who was appointed to the Charles Schwab Corporation Board of Directors in October, 2022. Schwab-Pomerantz served as board chair for Schwab Charitable for 11 years, and as chair and president of Charles Schwab Foundation for nine and 21 years, respectively. She is also stepping down from her executive role at Charles Schwab Corporation as managing director of Schwab Community Services effective June 30.

'Schwab Charitable and Charles Schwab Foundation have flourished under Carrie's dedicated leadership, and her contributions will continue to have a meaningful impact on both for years to come,' Wurster said. 'I am privileged to be entrusted with these new leadership roles and the opportunity to join my fellow board members in helping to chart the future of these two important organizations. Whether it is the giving that we do as a company via Charles Schwab Foundation, or helping our individual clients and their advisors channel their own charitable giving with a Schwab Charitable donor-advised fund, these philanthropies are at the forefront of improving countless lives, and I'm honored to work more closely with them.'

'Rick has long been active as a community and philanthropic leader, and an outspoken advocate for advancing financial literacy,' said Schwab-Pomerantz. 'His passion for community service, coupled with his business acumen and influential role in the firm, make him an excellent choice for both Schwab Charitable and Charles Schwab Foundation.'
