New Jersey American Water today unveiled the latest video in its "Splash" educational series. The new video centers on how to conserve water - and save money on water bills - by taking simple steps in and outside the home.

The winner of New Jersey American Water's 2011 summer art contest, Jillian Johnson, 11, of Union Beach, stars in the video along with New Jersey American Water's new mascot, "Splash," an animated water drop.

Throughout the five-minute production, Jillian and Splash explore different ways to avoid wasting water, such as turning the water off when brushing your teeth, washing full loads of clothes, attaching a spray nozzle to water plants, collecting water in rain barrels to water plants, checking for leaks, and using EPA WaterSense certified products.

"Water is an essential, precious resource and we must do what we can to ensure that it remains plentiful," said Peter Eschbach, New Jersey American Water's director of communications and external affairs. "We're grateful to Jillian Johnson and to her family for helping to spread the message of water conservation. Jillian is a very bright girl and she's excellent in the video."

The new Splash video, as well as the three earlier videos in the Splash series, can be viewed at New Jersey American Water's Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/newjerseyamericanwater.
