Airbus has launched a performance improvement plan including cost cuts and a hiring freeze in its commercial aviation division, which is facing production problems, industry sources said, citing a memo to staff.

An Airbus spokesman declined to comment on the staff memo, but confirmed the existence of a performance improvement plan.

At the end of June, Airbus lowered its total aircraft delivery target for 2024 to around 770 from the previous figure of around 800, due to difficulties in its supply chains.
