Voyager Space announced on Wednesday that it will collaborate with Airbus Defence and Space on the Starlab project, the future commercial space station to be developed in Earth orbit.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Airbus subsidiary will contribute its know-how and support in the technical design of the station, which is to accommodate astronauts for scientific and research activities.

Starlab is scheduled for launch in 2028, to ensure a continuous human presence in Earth orbit in view of the planned retirement of the International Space Station (ISS).

By the end of 2021, Voyager and its operating entity Nanoracks had been awarded a $160 million contract by NASA to design this commercial space station, as part of the US 'Space Act' program.
