Accenture Recognized by U.S. State Department for Small Business Inclusion

ARLINGTON, Va.; January 31, 2014 - The U.S. State Department has recognized Accenture Federal Services for exceeding its small business goals on State Department contracts.

The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business presented Accenture with the Prime Contractor Small Business Subcontracting Award, recognizing that Accenture had targeted 55 percent of its subcontract dollars going to small businesses; it actually delivered 80.9 percent for fiscal year 2012.

"Small businesses make for outstanding teammates," said Amy Tener, who leads Accenture's work with the State Department. "Accenture's commitment to inclusion and diversity goes beyond our hiring and workplace practices; it also shapes how we work with suppliers and subcontractors. A diverse group of suppliers enables us to deliver strong outcomes for our federal customers."

Accenture formalized its supplier diversity program more than a decade ago, and is a corporate member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council; the Women's Business Enterprise National Council; the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce; and the National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms.

Last year, Accenture selected Mount Airey Group Inc. as the recipient of Accenture's inaugural "Small Business of the Year" award. Mount Airey Group, a Small Business Administration (SBA) 8a company specializing in identity management and authorization solutions, was selected for its outstanding work on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
