GERMANY: - SLIGHTLY DOWN - The Dax is likely to start Thursday with slight losses. About two and a half hours before the Xetra start, the broker IG estimated the leading German index 0.2 percent lower at 18,122 points. The day before, it had slumped to 18,045 points, but then stabilized again. The DAX is currently oscillating between its 100-day moving average at 17,958 points on the downside and the 50-day line at 18,363 points. The USA is threatening to put further pressure on the technology sector. Here, Micron Technology slumped by more than 10 percent in places after its quarterly report. While the results were convincing, the outlook for the fourth quarter was disappointing. Technology stocks had just stabilized somewhat after their recent correction and were waiting for a continuation of their record run.

USA: - LITTLE MOVEMENT - Investors on Wall Street opted for a wait-and-see approach after the recent price fluctuations. The most important indices barely moved on Wednesday. Craig Johnson, analyst at the investment bank Piper Sandler, criticized the weak market breadth on the US stock markets. Only a handful of very highly capitalized stocks set the direction on the market. This may increase uncertainty about the sustainability of the current rally on the stock markets. The Dow Jones Industrial benchmark index rose by 0.04% to 39,127.80 points. The technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.25 per cent to 19,751.05 points and thus at least defended its stabilization from the previous day. It had reached a high of 19,979 points last Thursday after an annual gain of almost 19 percent, before profit-taking characterized the picture until Monday.

ASIA: - LOSSES - On the Asian stock exchanges there were price losses on Thursday, some of them significant. In particular, the Hang Seng Index of the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong fell by two percent as a result of the bad news from Micron in the USA. The CSI 300, which comprises the 300 most important shares on the Chinese mainland stock exchanges, recently fell by a more moderate half a percent. The Japanese Nikkei 225, on the other hand, was down more sharply, falling by 0.9 percent shortly before the close. The somewhat recovered yen became the bearish theme there.
