GERMANY: - WEAKER - The Dax initially showed signs of slight losses on Tuesday. About two and a half hours before the Xetra start, the broker IG valued the leading German index 0.1 percent lower at 18,452 points. The previous day, further records on the US technology stock exchange Nasdaq in the afternoon did not help. "Concerns about the uncertain government formation in France continue to outweigh the optimism of Wall Street on the European stock exchanges," commented portfolio manager Thomas Altmann of QC Partners. Investors are now awaiting a statement by US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell before Congress.

USA: - BEHAVIOR - US Treasuries continued their record chase on Monday with restraint. Investors remained fundamentally confident after the Federal Reserve's monthly labor market report on Friday provided arguments for a first rate cut before the presidential election in November. Both the broad-based S&P 500 and the technology indices Nasdaq 100 and Nasdaq Composite reached highs, although only slight gains remained in the end. The Dow Jones Industrial benchmark index even fell by 0.08 percent to 39,344.79 points.

ASIA: - MIXED - In Asia, the Japanese stock market set a positive tone on Tuesday. In Tokyo, the record rally continued as the Nikkei 225 reached another record high on the back of technology stocks. It gained 2.2 percent shortly before the close. However, the overall picture in the Asia-Pacific region was mixed, as shown by gains in Australia and subdued Chinese stocks. The CSI 300, which includes the most important stocks on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, was recently up by a wafer-thin margin. In the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, however, the Hang Seng Index fell by 0.4 percent shortly before the close.
