The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Friday,
and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0.2% lower at C$1.3495 to the
greenback, or 74.1 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of
1.3462 to 1.3507.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 5.8
basis points to 3.602%. The yield on similar U.S. government
benchmark debt rose to 4.3126%.
U.S. March crude futures rose 40 cents to $78.43 a barrel
on Friday.
Canadian wholesale trade shrank by 0.3% in December.
