Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and his wife, Joyce, have sold their Federal-style home in Washington, D.C., The Hill reported.

The couple sold the 5,115-square-foot home for $3.9 million - $550,000 more than they paid for it in early 2001, at the beginning of Rumsfeld's six-year run as George W. Bush's top military official.

The house has 7 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and a heated pool. It's across the street from the French ambassador's 20,000-square-foot mansion.

Various reports say the Rumsfelds now live in New Mexico and on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
