Mandevu parliamentary aspiring candidate Amon Maviya has been taken to court for allegedly obtaining thousands of Kwacha and United States dollars from a Chinese after promising to supply him with Mukula logs.

Maviya is charged with five counts of forgery, uttering false documents and obtaining money by false pretences.

It is alleged in the first count that on August 3, 2020 in Lusaka, Maviya with intent to deceive or defraud forged a Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation's (ZAFFICO) acknowledgement of receipt dated August 8, 2020 purporting to show that it was genuinely issued and signed by ZAFFICO when in fact not.
