XL Group today announced that it has appointed Christian Daniele to the position of Senior Property Facultative Underwriter - Reinsurance.

Commenting on the appointment David Watson, President and CEO of XL Re Europe SE, said: "Christian has more than twenty years' experience in the reinsurance market. Over this time he has built up a superb reputation based on solid expertise across lines, particularly in Property. His appointment further strengthens our global team and provides our clients across Continental Europe with greater access to our products and services."

Mr. Daniele joins XL Group from Chaucer Underwriting A/S, Copenhagen, where he worked for 10 years writing on behalf of Syndicate 1084 at Lloyd's. In this role he managed a successful book of business across Property, A&H and Marine Hull lines throughout Europe.

Between 1999 and 2002, Mr. Daniele worked at Copenhagen Re as a Facultative Property Underwriter with responsibility for Germany, France, Benelux, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Africa, the Middle East and Japan.

Over the course of his career Mr. Daniele has also worked for Vesta Fire Insurance Corporation based in Copenhagen and Unione Italiana di Riassicurazione S.p.A. both in Rome and Munich. He holds a B.A. in Political Science, from Università degli Studi La Sapienza, Rome.  

He is based in Zurich and reports to Alexander Galea, Senior Vice President and Manager, Property Facultative.
