OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 8, 2014
- Two new Walmarts will open Wednesday, Jan. 15, after brief ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 7:30 a.m. The new Walmart Supercenter at 5018 Ames Ave., is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week and the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 2451 N. 90th St., is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They will provide Omaha residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The stores also offer pharmacy services.

"The opening of this Walmart at 50th and Ames gives residents in the Northeast community the opportunity to have the same shopping alternatives as other parts of the city," said city councilman Ben Gray. "In addition to jobs and the 32 plus million dollars of investment this is a potential game changer for the North Omaha community."

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The Walmart Supercenter features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites. Some local products available include Mister C's Spaghetti Sauce and Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market format offers quick and convenient shopping, with a full grocery department, including organic and natural selections. The store features prepared food options, fresh-baked breads, full-service deli, beer and wine and a bakery.

"Offering our customers a broad assortment of fresh and healthy food options is my goal," said Walmart Neighborhood Market store manager John Carlin. "We look forward to welcoming the community to our new Neighborhood Market and helping customers save on their groceries with our Every Day Low Prices."

The pharmacies offer a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebrations include presentations of $15,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups includingFood Bank of the Heartland, Omaha Home for Boys, Friends of the Omaha Police Department Canine Unit, Together, Inc., Westbrook Elementary School, Edison Elementary School and Omaha Police Department.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart's pledge to fight hunger in America.
