Dr. Ralf Kauther new CFO at vwd

The Supervisory Board of vwd Vereinigte Wirtschaftsdienste AG has appointed Dr. Ralf Kauther to the Management Board

Frankfurt am Main, January 7, 2013 - Effectively immediately, Dr. Ralf Kauther has become a member of the Management Board of vwd Vereinigte Wirtschaftsdienste AG. As Chief Financial Officer, the 43-year-old executive will oversee the area of finance and administration.

Dr. Kauther is a finance and risk expert who has many years of managerial experience: In addition to holding line positions that included serving as the CFO of a leading savings and loan association and as the authorized agent of a major bank, he has directed many strategic projects. He has also worked for many years as an instructor in professional-development courses. Another major focus of his work has been investment management. His risk-management experience and knowledge of the financial industry will be critically important to the vwd group given that the risk assessment of financial instruments in the current regulatory environment is playing a larger role in the operating business.

From 2003 to 2010, the native of Karlsruhe, Germany, held various management positions at Deutsche Postbank AG. In his last position there, he served as the Chief Risk Officer and oversaw group-wide risk controlling. Earlier, he served on the board of BHW Bausparkasse AG, directing the finance division. At the same time, he held the position of department head for strategic investments at the group's headquarters. After leaving Postbank, he served as an instructor and business consultant in the areas of risk management, group management, M&A and business ethics at such places as the German Society of Investment Professionals and vwd academy AG. Dr. Kauther began his career in business and company consulting. Before entering the business world, he attended the University of Cologne, where he earned his Ph.D.
