While data risk mitigation issues continue to emerge in our industry, ISO ClaimSearch is always working to maintain the privacy and security of claims data. So to safeguard personally identifiable information (PII), ISO ClaimSearch will now partially mask these data fields to all SIU (Special Investigation Unit)-level users in the Claims Inquiry function:

  • driver's license number (DL): display state and last three digits only
  • social security number (SSN): display the last four digits only
  • date of birth (DOB): display the year only
  • tax identification number (TIN): display the last four digits only

You Can Search Data Elements in the Same Way

The new measures will abate risks to your company's data, but will not affect your searching capabilities. Users can continue to search all ISO ClaimSearch data elements as they did before.

The changes are a continuation of prior privacy and security enhancement efforts. ISO ClaimSearch has long masked Social Security numbers (SSNs) for all our claims-level users, displaying only the last four digits of the SSN in Claims Inquiry.

Procedures for Unmasking PII

When claims handlers truly need the full DL, SSN, DOB, or TIN, they will be able to unmask data points with a click of a mouse. To ensure that users are unmasking data appropriately and abiding by company policies, ISO ClaimSearch will track activity and share usage reports with home office contacts.
