Veidekke has today signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to upgrade the Hammersborg and Vaterlands tunnels on Ring 1 in Oslo.

The contract is a turnkey contract worth NOK 2.1 billion excl. VAT.

This is a project that suits Veidekke well with extensive ground work and challenging construction work. We have carried out a successful interaction phase together with the Norwegian Road Administration for almost a year, which gives us a very good basis for project implementation. We thank you for your trust and look forward to getting started with the construction work, says CEO Oivind Larsen in Veidekke Infrastruktur.

The Vaterlands tunnel (370 m) is to be upgraded and the Hammersborg tunnel (380 m) is also to be rebuilt, extended, reinforced and lowered into the terrain as a result of security requirements for the new government quarter. Both tunnels are from 1989, and there is a need for extensive maintenance with repair of concrete structures and road surface. In addition, general infrastructure such as lighting, cables, pipes, wires, signage and more must be replaced in both tunnels.

This is an important milestone in the project. Over the past ten months, the project has completed an interaction phase with Veidekke, where the foundations for the actual project implementation have been laid. After a good planning process, we will now enter the actual implementation of the building works. We continue the good cooperation, says road director Ingrid Dahl Hovland.

The construction work will start within a short time with planned completion in the summer of 2027. The assignment is included in Veidekke's order reserve for the second quarter of 2024. Read more about the project at vegvesen.no/ring.
