Customers offered option of reporting electric outages online
Evansville, Ind. - This month, Vectren Energy Delivery
(Vectren) added functionality to its web site, Vectren.com,
that allows customers to report their electric outages online
or via a smart phone as an additional option to calling the
company's contact center.
By selecting "Outage
Center" from the home page of Vectren.com or visiting the
site directly at Vectren.com/outage,
registered customers can log in to Vectren.com, which will
automatically pull up customer- specific information, and
then submit the outage. Customers who are not registered
Vectren.com users can enter a phone number tied to the
address of the outage or their 18-digit Vectren account
number to report the outage. If the phone number does not
match Vectren records, customers can also enter the address
of the outage. Upon successfully reporting the outage,
customers can opt to enter a phone number to request an
automated callback notification once power has been
restored.
"We're hopeful this new functionality provides customers a
faster and more effective way to report their electric
outage, especially when outages occur after the hours of
normal contact center operations," said Jon Luttrell,
Vectren's vice president of information technology and
customer service. "Furthermore, we will continue our focus on
web enhancements that appeal to a growing base of smart phone
and internet users."
Last year, Vectren began the first phase of improving
electric outage resources and customer communication by
launching its Outage Center, which, among other helpful
resources, provides a regional view of electric outages in
real-time. Vectren also debuted a Twitter feed,
@VectrenStorm, that issues updates during times of severe
weather and significant outages.
Vectren's electric utility serves 142,000 customers in all or
portions of seven counties in southwestern Indiana, including
Dubois, Gibson, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and
Warrick.
