June 27 (Reuters) - Valeura Energy Inc has suspended production at its Wassana field, offshore Gulf of Thailand, after a fault was discovered in one of the production units, the Canada-based oil and gas company said on Thursday.

During scheduled underwater inspection, a crack was discovered in one of the mobile offshore production unit which "may potentially pose a risk to the structural integrity", the company said.

Valuera is working with a team of internal and external experts to define the optimal course of action.

The company holds an operated working interest in four shallow water offshore licences in the Gulf of Thailand. (Reporting by Mrinalika Roy in Bengaluru; Editing by Shailesh Kuber)
