The energy group Uniper and the Swedish company Liquid Wind want to accelerate the development of eFuel plants for the production of fossil-free eMethanol.

The companies have signed a strategic partnership to this end, Uniper announced on Wednesday. The partners want to explore opportunities for cooperation in plant development, power supply and the purchase of e-methanol. Uniper emphasized that the Group considers large-scale production of eFuel plants to be essential for the ongoing transformation to a low-carbon society. eMethanol could be used in the shipping industry, which is responsible for a considerable proportion of global greenhouse gas emissions.
