Omsk line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of Omsk Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (ROPD) (branch of Transneft Western Siberia) has finished the second stage of full technical diagnostics of a vertical steel floating-roof tank for oil storage (VSFRT-50000) No. 22 with the amount of 50 thousand cubic metres.

The works were performed in accordance with the approved programme of inspection of Transneft facilities for 2016. The purpose of the works is timely detection and elimination of defects for securing reliable and safe operation of the tank farm of Transneft Western Siberia.

The inspection was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory document 'Rules of Tanks' Technical Diagnostics'. The specialists performed monitoring of technical condition of constructions and elements of VSFRT-50000 No. 22: ultrasonic thickness measurement and ultrasonic scanning, visual instrumental monitoring and acoustic instrumental monitoring. Inspection of the foundation was conducted; flaw detection of base metal and welding joints was performed. One of the obligatory diagnostics methods is geodetic measurements. Their purpose is detecting deviation of a tank's construction elements (bottom, walls, floating roof, stairs, enclosures) from design position. As well, quality control of internal and external tank's corrosion-resistant coating (TCRC) was performed. The main test parameters upon quality assessment of TCRC are appearance of coating, its thickness, adhesion and possible porosity.

According to the report made by Transneft Diascan, following the results of full diagnostic inspection, there are no defects at VSFRT-50000 No. 22. Tank for oil storage No. 22 has been commissioned.

Assessment of the tank farm's technical condition and using modern tools and methods of technical diagnostics is one of the important directions in implementation of activities on securing high level of industrial safety of oil and petroleum products pipeline transportation facilities. 16 tanks for oil storage were inspected and additional inspection (monitoring) of 24 tanks for petroleum products storage was performed in the area of responsibility of Transneft Western Siberia for 2016.

In January 2017 Omsk LODS as well finishes full diagnostic inspection of the tank VSFRT-50000 No. 18. The conclusion on its results will be presented in the end of February.
