Transneft East put into operation the Kuyumba-Taishet oil trunk pipeline (OTP). Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, performed remote launch of the new pipeline from Moscow on 18 January 2017.

With the Kuyumba-Taishet OTP on-stream, it will be easier to connect hard-to-reach fields in the north of Krasnoyarsk Region the Kuyumbinskoye and Yurubcheno-Tokhoma oilfields to the Eastern Siberia Pacific Ocean pipeline system in Irkutsk Rregion. The ultimate recoverable reserves at the fields are evaluated to stand at 584 million tons of oil, and the pipeline design capacity is 15 MTPA.

Construction of the Kuyumba-Taishet oil pipeline was commenced in December 2013, by Order No. 532-r issued by the Government of the Russian Federation on 17 April 2012. The pipeline route runs the Evenkiysky, Boguchansky and Nizhneingashsky Districts of Krasnoyarsk Region, and Taishet District of Irkutsk Region, crosses 113 small and 7 major rivers. The project implementation period was marked by the construction of some 700-kilometre long linear portion, bringing online pipe end pump station No. 1 (PEPS No.1) and oil pump station No.2 (PS No.2) in the Evenkiysky District of Krasnoyarsk Region, with the summary tank farm capacity of 160,000 cubic meters, 7 underwater and 5 bridge crossings, 332 kilometres of route roads, 326 kilometres of high-voltage lines, and laying communications lines.

Social infrastructure facilities required to operate the Kuyumba-Taishet OTP were also erected, apart from core production facilities. Five residential buildings to host 104 families were built for Transneft East employees at Angarsky and Oktyabrsky Settlements (Boguchansky Ddistrict of Krasnoyarsk Region). The strength of personnel engaged in the operation of the Kuyumba-Taishet pipeline exceeds 800 people.

Bringing online the Kuyumba-Taishet OTP is a milestone event for the domestic oil pipeline industry, and for the regions along the route wherein Transneft makes substantial tax payments and keeps developing the social infrastructure. Under the social partnership programme between the company and the Krasnoyarsk regional government, RUB 232 m were allocated for social projects implementation in Nizhneingashsky, Boguchansky and Evenkiysky districts, namely construction of houses in Ekonda, Yessey, Chirinda, and Yukta Settlements of Evenkia; apartments for orphaned children and professionals belonging to aboriginal ethnic minorities were purchased in the Tura Settlement; ethnic resting camps were put into place; a cell tower was erected at the Tilichet Rural Settlement of Nizhneingashsky District. The budgets of Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk Regions will annually receive more than RUB 1.5 bn of tax revenues.
