(Alliance News) - The Tuscan Airport System set a new record in June, surpassing 950,000 passengers transited at the airports of Florence and Pisa.

As Toscana Aeroporti Spa reported Tuesday, this is a 15 percent increase over the same month in 2023, driven by 12 percent growth in the number of commercial passenger flights and an 86.2 percent fill rate for scheduled flights, up 0.4 percentage points.

Overall, the first half of the year closes with another milestone: for the first time, the Tuscan Airport System exceeds 4 million passengers, registering a 14 percent increase over the same period last year.

Florence's Amerigo Vespucci Airport recorded a new monthly record in June, surpassing 357,000 passengers, up 11 percent from the same month in 2023. This significant increase was mainly due to a 7.5 percent increase in the number of commercial passenger flights and an improvement in load factor, which stood at 84.5 percent and rose 1.5 percentage points. International scheduled traffic showed a growth of 15 percent, offsetting the 5.4 percent decline recorded by domestic traffic. The main destinations served by scheduled flights were Paris, London, Amsterdam, Rome and Zurich.

For Florence Airport, the first half of the year closed with an all-time record, surpassing 1.6 million passengers and marking a 22 percent growth over the same period last year.

Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport also reached a new monthly record in June, with 595,000 passengers, up 17 percent from June 2023. The airport recorded a 17 percent increase in the number of commercial passenger flights and a 0.4 percentage point drop in load factor to 87.3 percent. Both international traffic by 19 percent and domestic traffic by 12 percent showed significant growth. The main destinations served were London, Tirana, Palermo, Catania and Paris.

In the first six months of 2024, Pisa Airport reached its all-time high, with about 2.5 million total passengers passing through, up 1.2 percent from the same period last year.

Toscana Aeroporti's stock closed Tuesday down 0.4 percent at EUR11.90 per share.
