complete the project

Rome, 25 January 2022 - The event organised by Terna, the national electricity grid management company, will take place on Thursday 27 January to present the new Acquara - Porto Potenza Picena electricity connection to citizens; a project that will affect the Municipalities of Civitanova Marche, Potenza Picena and Recanati, all in the province of Macerata.

The open day, at which the Company's technicians will be present to explain the planned works, will take place in Recanati in the Atrium of the Palazzo Comunale, with extended hours from 16.00 to 20:00, in order to allow for the participation of citizens and to ensure compliance with the distancing and the necessary anti-Covid safety measures.

This event is another step in a productive process of participatory planning, undertaken by Terna, together with the territory and the municipalities of Civitanova Marche, Potenza Picena and Recanati, with the aim of defining the best implementation solutions for a strategic project for the whole area.

The connection, for which Terna will invest a total of over €13 million, is part of a series of works aimed at upgrading the Adriatic backbone to 132 kV, provides for an underground cable power line over 11 km long, which will go between the Chiarino area and the Primary Cabin of Porto Potenza Picena.

In particular, the underground cable section will be as follows:

  • 1.2 km in the Municipality of Civitanova Marche
  • 1.3 km in the Municipality of Recanati
  • 8.8 km in the Municipality of Potenza Picena

Following these works, Terna will dismantle 7 pylons that are part of the pre-existing 'Osimo - Treia, Acquara' section overhead power line and will proceed to the decommissioning and demolition of the 60 kV 'Corneto - Recanati' overhead power line, which is over 18 km long and falls within the Municipalities of Recanati, Montelupone and Macerata, making it possible to free over 42 hectares of land from the impact of the existing electricity infrastructure.

Information and updates on the project will be made available on the dedicated page of Terna's website: www.terna.it
