Termochilca announced that Termochilca power plant will start operations by the end of 2013 with an initial capacity of 200 MW. The plant, also called Santo Domingo de los Olleros, is built in Chilca district, 60 km (37.3 miles) south of Lima city. With this and other plants, Peru will increase its power reserve by up to 1,400 MW this year and will guarantee power supply for the industry.

By 2016, Termochilca will upgrade its unit to a combined-cycle plant, with an installed capacity of 600 MW.
