Arqiva Limited reportedly looks options for mobile towers. A visit to Australia by Arqiva Chief Executive John Cresswell has sparked speculation a local telecommunications operator might be pondering strategic options for its mobile towers. One option would be a deal with a SingTel Optus Pty Ltd. and Vodafone Australia Pty Ltd. Both own mobile phone towers - indeed they have share infrastructure in some areas - which are valued by investors looking for defensive assets with regular cash flows.

Selling towers to another provider would release cash, which in the case of Vodafone would not be such a bad thing. Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS) owns a large number of towers but is unlikely to be interested. However, both Optus and Vodafone say they are not interested in exploring a deal for the time being.
