25 January 2013 Telkom warns of call centre advert scam

Telkom wishes to warn the public of a hoax advertisement claiming that Telkom is looking to hire call centre agents.

The bogus advertisement was sent through SMS, e-mail and social media channels such as What's App and BBM.

"We want to remind customers and the broader public to be extremely vigilant and wary in order to avoid becoming victims of fraudsters," said Mr Thami Msubo, Chief of Human Resources at Telkom.

This advert is not an official Telkom advert and the Company is not looking to hire call centre agents at this time. All Telkom employment advertisements are posted on the official Telkom.co.za website.

"Should the public be suspicious about anything, they can call the Telkom fraud hotline on 0860 124 000 or their nearest police station to report their suspicions," concluded Mr Msubo.
