TechnologyOne has helped the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) to transform its business, overhauling its accounts receivables and receipting systems to streamline services for its customers.

The regulatory body has undergone significant changes in the past year, including replacing the Queensland Building Services Authority on 1 December 2013 and increasing its portfolio of responsibilities to include new industry sectors.

As part of the overhaul, the QBCC implemented TechnologyOne Accounts Receivable and Enterprise Cash Receipting (ECR), to integrate with its existing TechnologyOne Financials software.

"The project was focused on moving our accounts receivable and receipting functionality out of an in-house system," said Acting Chief Financial Officer, Rebecca Hockings. "We license 80,000 people and manage a very large debtor-base, so it was a big project.

"Our old system was no longer supported and the technology was very outdated. After looking at a number of providers, we selected TechnologyOne because we already had the Financials system, and saw the integration with Accounts Receivable and ECR as a key benefit."

Ms Hockings said since implementing the new system less than three months ago, the QBCC has saved hours each day in processing time through an integrated Accounts Receivable and Financials system. The regulatory body also introduced BPay as part of the transformational project, something made difficult by its previous system.

"Being able to import BPay payments and receipt them in a matter of minutes, rather than having to do it manually, is a huge benefit. We wouldn't have been able to cost-effectively introduce BPay without the TechnologyOne solution," Ms Hockings said.

"With all the data now in real-time, we have stronger financial controls and have greatly improved our financial reporting and audit trails - areas in which our previous system was lacking."

TechnologyOne Executive Chairman, Adrian Di Marco said QBCC will gain a competitive advantage by using TechnologyOne's future-proof technology.

"The QBCC is a great example of an organisation that has benefited from the TechnologyOne enterprise vision, building upon a modular approach to adapt and improve processes in step with their needs," Mr Di Marco said.

"As well as benefiting from the power of a single, integrated enterprise solution, QBCC has bought into a solution which adapts and evolves, positioning them well to harness emerging technologies."
