Tata Power, India's largest integrated power pany has once again taken a step towards environment conservation by organising an anti-plastic awareness programme and rally in association with Utkal University at Cuttack.

About 180 NSS students from different colleges under Utkal University participated in this programme titled, 'Avoid Polythene & Save Environment'. To increase awareness, on the same day different programmes like Debates, Street plays/Cultural programmes and a Rally were organised on the issue.

Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Purushottam Thakur, Head-Odisha Projects said, "It is our moral duty to create awareness among the students and public at large on environment conservation. These small steps will go a long way in saving our planet."

Mr. Bibhu Prasad Sarangi, OAS (SB), Additional District Magistrate, Cuttack was the Chief Guest and spoke on the ill effects of polythene on the environment. He appreciated the awareness events being organized by Tata Power to educate students and public to conserve the environment.

Mr. Bipin Rout, APD, DRDA, Cuttack was the Guest of Honour and spoke on the issue of environment degradation by the people and its effects on the environment and future generation. Officers from Tata Power, district administration, opinion makers and local business also participated in the programme.
