Tata Power's tariff, as approved by state regulator is, fixed charge at Rs. 40 and variable charge at Rs. 2.13 for 0-100; and fixed charge at Rs. 75 and variable charge at Rs. 3.62 for 101-300 units.

As per the tariff orders for the three key power distribution utilities operating in Mumbai (excluding MSEDCL which also distributes power across limited pockets in suburban Mumbai), out of the total consumer base of around 40 lakh households, more than 70 per cent fall in the category of those consuming 300 units or lesser per month.

Thus, the low tariff from panies such as Tata Power for such consumer category is a boon for the mon man of Mumbai. Out of Tata Power's total consumer base of around 4.5 lakhs, consumers below 300 units account for almost 65 per cent of Tata Power's total consumers in the city.
