Andrew Samuel, president, chief executive officer, and director of Sunshine Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: SBCP) and Sunshine Bank, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Smith as senior vice president, corporate development. In this role, he is responsible for strategic plan development and management; investor relations; analyzing and recommending future products, services, and business opportunities to drive the growth of the organization; and leading corporate and business development initiatives.

Mr. Smith has over 9 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Sunshine Bank he was vice president and director of brokerage services at Susquehanna Bank. He joined Susquehanna after the acquisition of Tower Bancorp, Inc. where he had served as Vice President and Director of Investor Relations. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Messiah College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance. He received his Master’s in Business Administration from Shippensburg University, and currently holds his Series 7, 66, 24 and Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses.

Actively involved in the community, Mr. Smith has served as a junior varsity and varsity assistant boys’ soccer coach, was the recipient of the National Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Award for 2011, and is currently on the board of the Brethren Housing Association where he chairs the strategic planning committee.
