Steelcase has opened a CZK 600 million plant for office furniture in Panattoni Logistics Park in the Tachov district where it has hired 150 people thus far. Steelcase intends to double the plant's workforce by the end of 2015. The company could employ up to 1,000 people in the future.

The whole production is gradually being moved to Ostrov u Stribra from the German plant of Durlangen which will be closed by the end of the year. The transfer of production will be made in eight waves and two have been completed thus far, quality manager Svatopluk Soukup remarked. Production in the new Czech plant will be faster, more effective and with improved quality than in Durlangen. Production capacity is higher already now. Furniture from Ostrov u Stribra targets the whole region of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) since October 2014. In the new plant, Steelcase will produce mainly laminated containers.
